THE SPIRAL CURL

Spiral curls are tighter than waves and wind themselves into springy ringlets. The spiralled shape of the strand forces the cuticles open, making this curl type more vulnerable to dehydration. If they get too dry they can look dull and frizzy, so keeping them moisturised is key.

HIGH POROSITY

Your hair cuticles are open and rough, meaning they absorb water easily but struggle to retain it. You need lots of dense, creamy products to moisture and nourish your hair, followed up with a sealant to keep the moisture locked in. Adding proteins will also help your hair hold onto moisture for longer.

LOW DENSITY

Also known as thin hair, low density means your strands are not so tightly packed together and your scalp is visible. Use smaller quantities of lightweight products to avoid weighing your curls down and reducing their volume.

MEDIUM

Not too fine and not too coarse, these strands are generally strong and elastic. They are more resistant to damage than fine hair, and you can use a range of product textures.
